Predictability Vs Unpredictability
Have been debating about that recently... Is is better for life to be predictable or unpredictable? I've always thought unpredictability is better... Isn't that what life is all about? However, sometimes, it seems that some level of predictability is good... If you are able to predict, maybe you'd be less prone to failure... It's the same in business just as it is in life... If you're able to be certain of how the economy or market will be like, then you'd go all out with any strategy because you know how the result will be, so there's no risk... Sad thing is, there's no such thing... Life is a risky business and its so unpredictable... Never know what's going to happen tomorrow, much less next year... Things change all the time whether you expect it or not... That's why it's always good to "expect the unexpected"... But then again, doesn't that make you sort of a cynic or pessimist? All these contradicts itself, doesn't it?
Had to read a journal article by Nutt, and it's talking about decision-making... It is crap really... In reality, these steps to follow is just not possible... No one can tell you whether the T3 shares you buy today will earn any money or not... It's all a gamble... But one good thing came out from that article, it tries to communicate to people that they should think more broadly to search for more alternatives but to stick to one idea. Quite true isn't it?
Perhaps it's good to find balance... Just like a scale... Balance... Some predictability with some uncertainty... I think with uncertainty, there'd be more color to life... Not just black and white if things are predictable... But which side does the scale tip more? It really is quite up to the individual... There are always choices, but with choices come consequences... Decisions, decisions, decisions...
